Here is an opportunity for you to create a wonderful STEM project!

Bring Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to life!

The 2018 STEM Expo builds on a long and proud tradition at The Gap State School of promoting and celebrating scientific learning in our community, by hosting an annual competition.
The Expo has strong links with Ashgrove / The Gap Lions Club, involvement with community judges, our local state high school and our parent body. This year the competition includes a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) category and STEM related activity displays on the open evening, Wednesday 23 May from 4.00 – 6.00pm. In addition to sharing students’ work a number of hands on displays and activities will be available for students to enjoy and engage with as we celebrate all things STEM!
Whilst students entering the competition will still receive Gold, Silver, Bronze or participation certificates recognising achievement, funds raised through the Scholastic Book Club this year will be used to purchase STEM related resources for all students to borrow and share through our school library. This means that students entering the competition will not be receiving book or medal prizes this year. The STEM Expo remains free of charge to enter and is open to all students of The Gap State School from Prep – Year 6.
Supporting information has been developed to provide students and their families with significant guidance and suggestions to direct each student’s competition entry. All information required is detailed in the STEM Expo Handbook available on the school website. Each child who enters will also be provided with a hard copy at school to take home to share with their parents.

Students are encouraged to ask an adult for advice, but remember, it is their project so it is more rewarding if the student is primarily the driver of the project, completing all key aspects of the work to the best of their abilities. Let’s get started……………..
